As anyone who's had a good creep through Instagram will know, the thoughts of any of your habits being made public - or being seen by those you're creeping on - is terrifying.

A couple of days ago, a number of tweets went viral that alleged Instagram was now adding a pop-up notification for screenshots. In other words, you'd be notified if someone took a screenshot of any image on Instagram.

The confusion came about from an update which allows people to send photos directly to other users - exactly like Snapchat. Not only that, the images sent via direct message will disappear once they're sent and, like Snapchat, will notify people when they've taken a screenshot or replayed it.

Here's the slightly vague and confusing word from Instagram themselves.

"Swipe right into the camera to take a photo or video, then tap the arrow to send it privately. You can choose a group or create one in just a few taps — and you can also send to individual friends at the same time. Send anything you want, from inside jokes to your worst selfies. Unlike other messages in Direct, these photos and videos disappear from your friends’ inboxes after they have seen them."

"And you’ll see if they replayed it or took a screenshot."

That's the key point that everyone worried. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.
