One of Draco Malfoy's former cronies has traded in his wand for some boxing gloves.

Joshua Herdman, who played Slytherin student Gregory Goyle in the Harry Potter films, made his MMA debut in London last weekend. He beat Poland's Janusz Walachowski after three rounds.

The 28 year old has trained in Japanese jujitsu for five years before making the move to MMA.

"It’s raw, exciting and unpredictable. I find it more interesting than boxing although I appreciate the beauty and art in boxing. It also made sense to move onto MMA because of my jujitsu training.” he said in an interview.

He hasn't given up on the acting dream completely though and hopes to be able to pursue his ambitions in both fields in the years ahead.

"I haven't fallen out of love with it, I still have an agent and still go for auditions," he said. "It's just a little bit like playing the lottery for a living."
