We would totally do this if we could get away with it.
Jordan Peele, whose movie Get Out has been 2017’s biggest surprise hit horror movie, churning out over $250 million at the box office on a $4.5 million budget, surprised a group of students at UCLA yesterday by crashing their class. The class, which was called Sunken Place: Racism, Survival, and Black Horror Aesthetic, was inspired by his film.
The filmmaker snuck into the back row while they were screening a scene from his movie and, according to author and professor Tananarive Due, he then raised his hand.

Me: "What do you think the director was trying to say about the coveting of black bodies?"

The Sunken Place means we're marginalized. No matter how hard we scream, the system silences us.
