In a short tweet published this morning, Newstalk confirmed that George Hook has been suspended over his comments involving an alleged rape case in the UK.

Newstalk also said that the process regarding his comments are ongoing, but did not specify how long Hook's suspension will last. This most recent development comes on foot on one of Newstalk's presenters, Dil Wickremasinghe, refusing to host her weekly show in protest over Hook's comments.

Furthermore, both Tesco and Dalata Hotels Group have pulled advertising from Newstalk, with calls for other advertisers to abandon the station and Hook's show. It's understood that Dr. Ciara Kelly will be replacing Hook on today's edition of High Noon, but it is not yet known who will be replacing Hook throughout his suspension.

The story is developing...
