They really should have seen this one coming.

On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security in the US set up VOICE, a hotline that allows citizens to contact the government and report criminal aliens. VOICE was set up to "serve the needs of crime victims and their families who have been impacted by crimes committed by removable criminal aliens".

In the US, 'criminal alien' is a term used to describe an immigrant who has been convicted of a crime. However it seems when most people here the term 'criminal alien' they think of something else entirely.

One other Twitterer questioned the wisdom in setting the hotline up on Alien Day.

We're sure the hotline will be worthy in the long run.
