The Dandy said goodbye to it's physical format today as the comic celebrated its 75th anniversary. The classic comic that raised generations of kids, either in its paperback weekly format or the end of year annual that you used get on Christmas morning, has seen sales dwindle down to just 8,000 copies a week. Back in the 1950s, it averaged about 2 million, clearly affected by the digitalisation of media in recent years.

However, all is not lost as Desperate Dan, Bananaman and Korky the Cat can now all be found online, and in smartphone and tablet apps. The new comic strips feature not only your old favourites, but are also animated and feature voiceovers and sound effects. The first issue is free, and you can try it online right now.
