Hold the phone, stop the press; McDonald's are about to rock the boat with something we admittedly never saw coming. The twisty fries were enough to rock our world but now, they're testing out garlic cheese fries. You know that game of 'would you rather?' where you have to make a seemingly impossible choice? Well 'would you rather be with the love of your life and never eat garlic cheese fries again OR, eat them but die alone?' People have chosen the latter, we kid you not.

For now the cheese and garlic are mixed into an oil but if MacDonald's go one step further and add a sprinkling of actual cheese into the mix, we may as well dig our supersized graves. So far they're being rolled out across four locations in San Francisco, but if they prove a hit, you can guarantee you'll reek of garlic in Ireland soon enough. Apparently, though, they're going down the local produce route with 'locally sourced garlic'. Here's the skinny on these:

The new fries are made-to-order in McDonald's kitchens where restaurant employees toss French fries in stainless steel bowls with a purée mix that includes ingredients, such as chopped Gilroy garlic olive oil, parmesan cheese, parsley and a pinch of salt. The garlic fries are part of a trend at McDonald's to experiment with regional flavors and food on its menu.

Time to get the thinking caps on for regional flavours here in Ireland. Guinness fries?
