Howiya folks, Hector here. Storm Hector, that is.
The recent spell of glorious sunny weather (aka 'exam weather') that we've been having is set to come to a end as a Status Orange weather warning - the second highest - has been issued for four counties.
Strong winds are expected to batter Donegal, Sligo, Galway and Mayo from 9pm tonight until 10am tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, a Status Yellow warning has also been issued for six counties (Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare and Kerry) because of the Atlantic storm.
Met.ie said: "On Wednesday evening and night and for a time on Thursday morning, south to southwest winds veering westerly, associated with Storm Hector, will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/hr with gusts of 110 to 125 km/hr. Winds will be strongest in coastal areas."
It will be "showery" tomorrow, meanwhile, "with very strong and gusty westerly winds. The winds will gradually ease through the day and the showers become more scattered. Highs of 15 to 18 degrees."
Dublin and the east coast isn't going to escape, either, as it will be "wet and windy overnight with strong and gusty southerly winds veering westerly through the night."
The weekend forecast is set to be pretty changeable, too, as they say Friday will start out dry and bright in most of the country, but "outbreaks of rain will develop through the day as cloud increases across Connacht, Ulster and west-Munster; the east and south will remain dry until late afternoon /evening. Highs of 14 or 15 degrees in moderate southwest breezes. Heavier rain will extend nationwide overnight."
