Alec Baldwin has revealed how much he gets paid for his Saturday Night Live sketches in which he impersonates US President elect, Donald Trump.

In an interview with The New York Times, Baldwin divulged his renumeration for the sketches and also discussed how he developed the impersonation.

The Emmy Award winner says he gets paid $1,400 per appearance on the show which Donald Trump has labelled 'unwatchable'.

When discussing his process of developing the impersonation, Baldwin said:  "I see a guy who seems to pause and dig for the more precise and better language he wants to use, and never finds it," said Baldwin. "It’s the same dish — it’s a grilled-cheese sandwich rhetorically over and over again.”

Earlier this month, Donald Trump took to Twitter to slam Baldwin and SNL.

"totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can't get any worse" he said. Baldwin fired back with "Release your tax returns and I'll stop."

Baldwin told The New York Times that he plans to continue the impersonations on SNL and possibly elsewhere but that his appearances are likely to become less frequent due to his upcoming filming schedule.
