The Dora Sarchese winery installed a wine fountain that spits out delicious red wine, twenty-four hours a day, to tourists and residents of Caldari di Ortona in the Abruzzo region of Central Italy.
The flowing red wine is primarily there as a public display of Dora Sarchese's wines, and to quench any thirsty travellers to the nearby Cammino di San Tommaso pilgrimage.
Dora Sarchese's Facebook page shows the fountain, which looks like a regular tap and a basin in which to pop your glass under for a quick tipple. Dora Sarchese pointed out that, naturally, it's not there for people to get drunk from (wine drunk is the worst kind of drunk, tbh) and that it's primarily there for sampling.
It's not the first time there's been a wine fountain in Italy, either. Venice regularly has a wine fountain in St. Mark's Square as part of the annual festival there and wine fountains were popular in medieval England and France.
