To reiterate the headline, 13% of people in a recent US opinion poll opted for a giant meteor destroying all life on Earth than seeing Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton as US President.

This is not a joke poll, however the company behind the data - Public Policy Polling Inc. - do have a history of asking somewhat left-of-field questions. Just before he exited US Republican nominee race, PPP Inc. asked pollers if they believed Ted Cruz was the Zodiac Killer.

10% believed he was, 28% weren't sure.

This time around, a sampling of 853 voters were asked to vote between Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and the extinction of all life on Earth. The poll had Clinton polling at 43% whilst Donald Trump garnered just 38% of the vote. Certain death, however, polled at just 13%.

However, in a separate poll outside of the Democratic Party and GOP, the apocalyptic meteor polled at 26% - meaning that US voters would clearly prefer to wipe out the rest of humanity than see a third-party candidate in the White House.

What's even more interesting is that the giant meteor option has garnered a huge Twitter following, gaining over 21,000 followers since the poll was released.

Naturally enough, this had us thinking. If another General Election was called tomorrow, who would win? Vote in our poll and let us know!
