When we think of cruises, a lot of us think of being stuck on a boat without that much to do, but on the Royal Caribbean's newest ship, the Allure of the Seas, you definitely won't have that problem.

The ship is, quite simply, a behemoth, and one of the largest passenger ships ever built. It's so big, that this thing even has districts, like you would in a fully-fledged city, including Central Park and the Boardwalk, each of which have their own unique aspects. There's also no shortage of sights to see and activities to partake in as you travel about the Mediterranean thanks to the sheer size of the vessel.

For those who are worried about not getting their exercise in, you can head to the rock wall and scale the heights there, or the state-of-the-art fitness centre on board, while if you're in the mood to take a dip you can hop on a flowrider and catch a few waves. If the kids are coming along too, then the H2O zone will provide plenty of laughs and fun, while the aquatheatre, with its high dives and spectacular shows will entertain the whole family.

You can also catch a show in the main theatre (Chicago is on at the moment, in case you haven't had a chance to catch it on Broadway) or head to the ice-skating rink if you fancy something a bit different. Yes, we said ice skating rink, on the high seas.

Of course, there's a Starbucks on board so you can sit back and enjoy a coffee, or check out the two-storey Loft Suites and soak in the views. If you'd rather soak up some rays, then you can head to the adults only solarium, while the kids can head to the Youth Zone (for teens) or take a ride on the carousel on the Boardwalk. The DreamWorks Experience also brings some of their favourite and most recognisable characters to life, while there's also plenty for the adults in the shape of the Casino Royale, nightclub and champagne bar.

When it comes to eating, there's again a huge amount of variety, from fresh salads and gourmet burgers, to Brazilian-style churrasco and Mexican classics all the way through to ultra-fine dining, so your tastebuds won't tire of the smorgasbord on offer.

A cruise around the Mediterranean is synonymous with luxury and relaxation and with www.e-travel.ie, that luxury doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Prices start from as little as €899 per person for seven days on the seas, and will bring you through some of the most beautiful locations that Europe has to offer including Palma de Mallorca, Provence, Florence, Pisa, Rome and Naples.
