If money were no object, these are the places that would make your trip extraordinary

A large part of heading away on holidays is working out your budget and making sure that you have enough But what if we were the elite, the super-rich who could go wherever and do whatever they want, without having to worry too much about the tab that they’ll get at the end of the trip, or their credit card company calling them up and telling them to come home immediately, or else they’re coming to get you. If that were the case, these would be the hotels of choice that look to provide an experience so good that you'll forget how much money you're spending on staying there.

Burj Khalifa, Dubai

When you don’t have to worry about how much cash you’re spending, you might as well go to the top of the world…literally. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, and is so fancy that it’s not even luxury, it’s ultra-luxe, and even bears the Armani name. That’s because the interiors were designed by Giorgio and all come from the Armani Casa collection. Not the most expensive hotel on our list at around €450 a night, but still pretty swanky.

Aureum Palace, Burma

In the beautiful paradise of Bagan you’ll find the Aureum Palace Hotel, although that’s easier said than done. It might be a bit of at trek to get there, but the view alone once you arrive is more than worth it, as you soak in the view at night of the surrounding ancient temples dotted around the landscape, which is the Bagan Archaeological and nature preserve. You can get a room here for a relatively cheap price, compared to some of the other entries on the list, but the high end suites will set you back over $1,200 a night.

Post Ranch Inn, California

The coastal areas of California are some of the most stunning landscapes that nature has created, and the Post Ranch Inn sits in amongst them with complete ease. Nestled in to a mountainous ridge that overlooks the Pacific, the hotel makes the most of its views, with one of the rooms, the Cliff House, featuring a bedroom that is glass on all sides. If you plan on going during the high season and getting a nice room, you might want to set aside $2,485 (€2000) a night.

Hilltop Estate, Fiji

Red Bull billionaire Dietrick Mateschitz owns this stunning property, the Hilltop Estate Owner's Accommodation atop the hills of Laucala island in Fiji. If you want to go, then do your best to get on his good side, as apparently being willing to fork over the $40,000 a night (€32,000) is not enough to get you in the door; he has to personally choose the applicants from the waiting list.

Amangiri Resort, Utah

Camped in the middle of the Utah desert, the Amangiri resort seems a little bit out of place, but there is no doubt that you would feel that you’ve gotten away from it all if you manage to stay here. The resort is built in to its surroundings, meaning that you can relax your body and rejuvenate your soul with the stunning views and the sheer expanse of the surrounding canyons and plateaus. A suite will set you back about $3,800 a night, but if you want to get a villa with a few rooms and split the cost then you’re looking at a mere $8,000, split four ways.

Harads Tree hotel, Sweden

When it comes to innovative design, Sweden are pretty well versed, as we've all seen on our visits to Ikea. However, the tree hotel in the village of Harads, Sweden (which boasts a population of 600 people) is a bit fancier than your average to said furniture superstore, as it his home to six different and stunning rooms that hang from the trees, including a UFO room (that looks like an alien space pod), a room designed like a bird's nest, and the Mirrorcube, a cube covered in mirrors that reflects the surrounding exteriors. The rooms are also eco-friendly, and you can see the northern lights if you time your visit right.

The Four Seasons, New York

New York is one of the most iconic cities in the world, and while getting there has become cheaper and cheaper in recent years, staying there has not. If you want to shell more than most people make in a year on a hotel room, then try the Ty Warner Penthouse at the Four Seasons. You will live in the lap of luxury for your $45,000 (€36,000) a night with your own piano, a bedspread woven with 22k gold and a personal butler, as well as some simply amazing views, as the windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling, allowing you to soak in a 360 panorama of Manhattan.
