In the coming weeks, Christmas markets will begin opening their doors over all over the country with arts, crafts, toys and decorations on display, as well as warm drinks and delicious seasonal food on offer. We've listed the biggest markets happening around the country, so you can start planning your visit and your Christmas shopping.

I Believe Christmas Village, Dublin
Dublin's newest Christmas market will be opening its doors this month in the city's Custom House Quarter. It will be launched on the 26th November, with a ceremonial switching on of the lights on the fifty foot Christmas tree which will sit at the heart of the market, inspired by the tradition of New York's Rockerfeller Centre tree. The market itself will feature food, drink, crafts and other gifts, Santa and a pop up Apres Ski bar. If you're in Dublin, or planning a pre-Christmas trip to the capital, it will certainly be worth checking out.

Winterval Christmas Market, Waterford
Waterford's Winterval festival runs from the 20th November to the 23rd December with a variety of different events taking place, but one of the highlights is the Christmas Market which will be set up in Cathedral Square every weekend of the festival, and from the 17th to 23rd of December. You can pick up handcrafted items and Christmas gifts, as well as foods and drinks which will keep you refuelled as you explore Waterford and the festival.

Grand Parade Christmas Market, Cork
Every weekend from the 27th of November until the 20th of December, Grand Parade in Cork City will be transformed into a Christmas market .There will stalls set up along the street where you will be able to do all your Christmas shopping as well as grabbing some festive treats. Nearby Bishop Lucey Park will be playing host to activities for children, and there will be a Ferris wheel in operation, offering spectacular views of the city

Galway Christmas Market, Galway
Taking over Eyre Square, this market features wooden chalets stocked with crafts, toys, jewellery, cosmetics and decorations. There will also be plenty of edible treats with bratwurst,French pastries, pretzels, crêpes and waffles, and  a range of traditional German Beers, apple cider and mulled wine. For the first time the Market will spread out the the Spanish arch, where there will be a second market area for visitor to explore. For young kids, take them on the Santa Express train which will journey through the city.

Christmas at the Milk Market, Limerick
The Milk Market in Limerick is open all year round, but will be hosting extra special market days this December. The Christmas markets will be running every weekend from December 4th and all week long from December 17th until Christmas Eve. You'll be able to pick up all the delicacies you'll need for your Christmas feast, gifts for everyone and decorations for the house, all while being serenaded by choirs performing seasonal music.
