Stuck for ideas of what to do on New Year's Eve? Well get unstuck with NYF Dublin and probably the greatest line-up of music, arts and cultural events ever to take place over New Year's that the city has ever seen.

 

From big events like the Three Countdown Concert with Irish band of the moment Kodaline, family friendly street performances and a food village to delight every taste bud to arts events in some of Dublin's most beautiful galleries as well as off-the-beaten tracks music events that will make ringing in 2015 the best night ever, NYF Dublin is taking over the capital for three days and will make sure you end 2014 right and start 2015 off with a bang.

 

The Three Countdown Concert kicks off at 8pm on New Year's Eve, and will see headliners Kodaline, arguably one of 2014's biggest Irish successes, take to the stage with very special guests James Vincent McMorrow, Dublin Legends, Walking on Cars and The Whereabouts also dropping in for some stellar performances to take you right into 2015.

If you've got young ones in tow, and are looking for something magical than check out the Procession of Light, an eruption of fun, light, magic, music, street performers and more, which begins at Stephen's Green at 7pm on December 31st and moves through the city before ending at Dublin Castle at 8pm with 'All About The Brass' a bespoke choreographed fire and music show with the sensational FirePoise performance group and Booka Brass Band, easily Ireland's best new live performers, and guarantees to be a showstopper.

And while you're doing all of this, Barnado's Square next to City Hall is hosting the NYF Food Village, which will keep hungry mouths happy with a huge variety of food and drink from 12pm until 9pm on the 30th and 31st, and from 11am until 5pm on New Year's Day. And while you're there you'll be able to take in the spectacular 3D light show Luminosity, as the square becomes the backdrop for a fairytale adventure with the audience becoming the storyteller and letting you to create your own fairytale and end 2014 with a real 'Happily Ever After'.

If arts are more your thing, then the Love Dublin roster of events is right up your street. Whether it be exploring the most beautiful gallery and art spaces that the city has to offer, taking in the best of Irish spoken word talent at the NYF Spoken Word Festival or making the most of your time in the capital with the Dublin Discovery Trail, Love Dublin will fill you full of all things art over the 30th and 31st of December.

And if you love live music but want to experience something different as you rock in 2015, the NYF Music Trail has everything you could need. Some of the countries top up-and-coming music acts and DJs are set to take up spaces throughout the city in the run up to and all the way through that countdown on New Year's Eve.

Entertainment.ie's own favourite live act of 2014 Le Galaxie will take to the stage in Meeting House Square on the 31st with a blazing live show that is set to knock socks off. And with support from Adeyhawke, Adultrock and DJ Kelly Anne Byrne, this one is going to be an absolute banger.

If acoustic music is more your bag, than you'll be at a loss if you don't drop into The Ruby Sessions in Smock Alley Theatre. With all proceeds going to charity, the night usually hosted in Doyle's of College Street has a secret lineup that will be the talk of the town, and with previous performers at the night including Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Sons and Damien Rice, you know the standard is high.

Dublin Gospel Choir, Ireland's top choir who have performed to thousands on the biggest stages in the country, are also taking to a very special stage on New Year's, with a Gala Concert taking place in Christ Church Cathedral and a post-concert champagne reception leading up to the ringing of the cathedral bells at midnight. And if all of that doesn't tickle your fancy, The Dean, The Workman’s Club, The Liquor Rooms, Vintage Cocktail Club, Peruke & Periwig, Everleigh Gardens, Whelan’s, Opium Rooms, The Mercantile, East Side Tavern, Dame Tavern, Sweeneys, The Globe, 4 Dame Lane, Stags Head and the Odessa Club are all going to be ringing in the new year with the best music.

Finally, if you want a New Year's Eve with bit more bite, Dublin's best club night Mother are upping sticks to the Button Factory with Stockholm sensation Kateboy and all their DJs for their biggest, brightest and best night yet. And if you're looking to start 2015 off with a healthy mind and body, the NYF Fun Run, part of NYF Dublin's Resolution Day line-up, will get you off on the right foot with a 2.5km run around the Docklands. And it starts at 12pm, which means you'll be home in time to feed that appetite you'll have worked up and get your fitness goals moving for 2015.
