1. Make mayhem in Mayo
There’s frighteningly good family fun on offer at the Halloween Fest in Westport House in Co Mayo, (October 24 - 31). Check out the creepy waxworks, experience the thrills and chills of the Pirate Adventure Park, and take the plunge of death on the log flume water ride. Boys and girls can really get into the spirit of things by joining costumed staff and dressing in their spookiest attire. Westport house itself will be transformed with webs, wizards and witchcraft - it’s guaranteed to rival any Harry Potter novel!

2. Go Boo at Dublin Zoo
Take your little critters to see the crazy creatures at Spooktacular Boo (October 31) At Dublin Zoo with creepy arts and crafts, spine-chilling keeper talks and fearsome face painting (October 28 and 29). Join the scary fancy dress parade and monster music on the Great Lawn. Check out the Halloween Workshops where kids will learn all about the animals of Halloween - and they get to make their own witch’s broomstick.

3. All aboard the Ghost Train
Embark on a journey through the spooky forest on the Rathwood Halloscream Train near Tullow in Co. Carlow (October 23 - 31). On this ghoulishly scary adventure the kids will meet Wizard of Oz characters and have fun and surprises along the way. With the help of some good witches each child will design and carve their very own pumpkin to take home. They can revive afterwards with a free hot chocolate with yummy marshmallows!

4. Beware of things that go Bump in Belvedere
Make for the midlands andhistoric Belvedere House in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath where the kids will meet all sorts of spooky characters on the Halloween Treasure Hunt, (October 24 - 26). If they dare they can wander through the Scarecrow Garden and the Terrifying Tree House, before doing a tour of Belvedere House itself… beware, it’s haunted!

5. Be lulled into terror at Lullymore
The entire family can enjoy freakish delights at Halloween Happenings at Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park in Rathagan, Co. Kildare (October 24 - November 1). Expect ghastly goings on and terrifying treats on the Terror Train Trip and join in the freaky fun in the devilish den in the Funky Forest. The park will be transformed for Halloween with prizes for best fancy dress costume!

6. Seek spooky laughs at Lough Key
Enter an eerie world of haunted adventure at the Lough Spooky Halloween event in Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon, (October 25 - 31). The gang will love the Witch and Monster Treasure Hunt through the forest, and they can tone it down afterwards with some Halloween Craft and Baking. There will also be pumpkin carving and scary story telling.

7. Have ghoulish fun in Galway
Go west in search of freaky fun at the Galway Aboo Halloween Festival which takes place in the medieval streets of the city’s Latin Quarter (October 24, 25 & 31). A scary highlight will be the Hallowe'en parade by Macnas, with the internationally renowned street theatre group putting on a terrifying performance with a host of new giants. There will be Trick orTreating, a frightening fancy dress parade and pumpkin carving.

8. Get spooked in Waterford
If you are brave enough the entire family can get into the Spirit of Halloween aboard the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway's 'Spooky Express'(October 24). During this bare-knuckle, creepy 30-minute ride meet ghosts and goblins, pass gravestones and graveyards and watch out for witches and warlocks.

9. Enjoy freakish farm fun in Cork
Take a ghoulish trip on a haunted hay ride and find your way to the witch’s lair during the Boo Experience on Leahy’s Open Farm in Midleton (October 25 - November 2). Help the little old witch make a magic spell by gathering the special ingredients and join in the witches wiggle disco. The farmhands will help the kids get into the spirit by dressing up in the scariest costumes possible.
