With the kids soon off for the summer, what to do with them is a question on every parents lips. Here are just some of the fab festivals taking place from May to July to occupy both you and the little ones.

Fleadh Nua

Taking place in Ennis, Co. Clare from the 18 to the 26th May, Fleadh nua, celebrates traditional Irish music, singing and dancing. This year is a big year as the festival marks its 40th anniversary with over 120 events. Why not join the fun which includes concerts, ceilis, lectures, CD launches, singing sessions, set dancing & sean-nós dancing competitions, pub sessions and a host of other activities.

Ocean to City

Why not pop over for Cork for the Ocean to City festival. Ireland's very own long-distance rowing race and maritime festival attracting thousands of spectators each year. The festival celebrates Ireland's unique maritime culture and heritage, with all the festivities culminating in the An Ras Mor which draws hundreds of participants from all over the world competing in everything from traditional wooden working boats, currachs, gigs and longboats to Chinese dragon boats, kayaks and canoes.

K Fest

K-Fest is a music and arts festival located in the centre of one of Ireland's most scenic and welcoming areas. Music and art have always been great sources of inspiration and truthfulness and K-Fest 2014 will be an opportunity to consider the relationship that exists between these disciplines stimulating both fields to question, consider, process and respond.

Enniscorthy Street Rhythms Dance Festival.

Enniscorthy is the place to be on the 6th -8th June for the Enniscorthy Street Rhythms Dance Festival. Kicking off with an evening parade of dancers, musicians and a dance concert in the Market Square there is fun for all the family here. Not to mention Baby Bop, Barney and Mickey Mouse for all the little ones. There is a huge amount of workshops to tickle your fancy including Hip hop, hula hoop, Zumba, line dancing, salsa and much more.

Kenmare Food Carnival

Kenmare Food Carnival is three day event taking place over the 12th to the 14th July and celebrates, yep, you guessed it, food! Kenmare will come to life to showcase its fabulous restaurants cafes and food producers. With fun for all the family make sure you take a trip to this festival where you can taste trail, farmers' markets, cookery demos, 'little foodies' workshops for the kids, a drinks quarter, carnival parade, Retro Helter Skelter and music in the streets.

Ballina Salmon Festival

The Ballina Salmon Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and offers a fun and family friendly festival. Taking place from the 6th to the 13th July, the events caters for all ages and features many a fun filled event including  'It's a Knockout', Mayo's got Talent, International Night and a spectacular fireworks display. And not forgetting the Teddy Bears picnic which takes place on the Sunday.

Sneem Family Festival

One of the top family festivals takes place in Sneem, Co. Kerry over the 16th to the 20th July. With a huge amount on offer to do, the weekend kicks off with a children's fancy dress parade, the kids can then bounce in the green while you sit back and enjoy the village barbeque. Take them crab and lake fishing. Have a giggle with laughter yoga. Visit the funfair. Take the family out on Kenmare Bay in motorised kayaks or get your friends together for a rib trip across the bay or deep-sea angling.

Laya Healthcare Street Performance World Championship

Hold onto your socks and get ready for an action packed free family festival at the Laya Healthcare Street Performance World Championship this July. Every year, the SPWC scour the globe to bring the best international street performers to Ireland to compete for the World Champion title. Full to the brim with jaw-dropping jugglers, awe-inspiring acrobats and spine-tingling sword swallowers, this is an event not to be missed.

Bray Air Display

And if that wasn't enough why not take the whole family to Ireland's largest free air show as it takes to the skies above Bray. The Bray Air Display takes place on the 20th July this year. This family friendly event attracts a huge amount of spectators every year where they can expect xtreme formation' aerobatics in the skies, with high speed formations such as the 'Hammerhead,' the 'Blade Break,' the 'Palm Tree Split' and the 'Centrifuge' set to thrill the crowds.
