Top Ten Theatre Productions of 2012: #6 and #5

John Scott's February debut of his new show for Irish Modern Dance Theatre was a tour de force of both art and athleticism. Michelle Boulé and Philip Connaughton's physically and emotionally demanding performance was one of those rare events when stars align and multiple creative forces come together in a seamless and stunning fashion. The commitment to the performance was unwavering, and Boulé and Connaughton marked themselves as two of the most competent dancers performing today.
When Monster/Clock was announced, most were dubious as to the whether a young theatre company could pull off such a complex idea. An original puppet musical extravaganza by a fledgling company? How will they pull it off without a budget like that of Avenue Q? These doubts however were unfounded, as Collapsing Horse's brave undertaking proved to be absolutely sensational. And having sold out both runs, Monster/Clock was one of those one of a kind shows that you felt privileged to see if you were one of the lucky few who did.
