Tender Napalm | Ten Days in Dublin

Words: Lauren O'Toole
Tender Napalm
Launched last year as an alternative to the larger, more well-known and, as such, more fiscally supported theatre festivals, Ten Days in Dublin returns in July 2012 with the promise of more arty delights to whet the cultural whistle. One such delight is Sugarglass Theatre's production of Philip Ridley's "Tender Napalm", showing at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, from the 3rd to the 14th of July. Ridley's 2011 play has received rave reviews on its British Tour with explosive lines and a violent intimacy that threatens to compel you and put you on edge in equal parts. Fresh from stealing the show in the bizarrely hysterical MonsterClock, Aaron Heffernan is "Man" to award winning actress Erica Murray's "Woman". The two are charged with the task of depicting the rawness, passion and beauty of this love affair, played out on a desert island, with the audience allowed the guilty pleasure of being their only voyeurs - who could pass up such a tantalising opportunity?
