Street Performance World Championships

SPWC 2012

That time of year again folks where the hotly anticipated Street Performance World Championships rolls around. This year marks the 7th annual festival and the kind folk at Laya Healthcare in Cork have taken on the role of title sponsors. Thus, the "Laya Healthcare Street Performance World Championship" will take place this July in Cork (Fitzgerald Park on the 14th and 15th) and in Dublin's Merrion Square from the 19th to the 22nd. With attendance figures that surpassed 240,000 in 2011, Ireland's second largest non pay-in festival is expected to be even bigger and better this time round. We can't wait!

Last week saw the launch of the family festival with the arrival of iconic international performer, professional freak and reptile tattooed "Lizardman" to share his tricks with the people of Ireland. Yes, that's his tongue split down the middle. *Shudder

The Lizardman along with Lisa Lottie, Piano Juggler, The Space Cowboy (winner of SPWC 2011), Mr. Balloonatic among many others will return to entertain and no doubt freak out the onlooking festival goers. All info on the performers can be found on the SPWC website right here.

What's more, this year they've added a busker's stage to the bill at the in Merrion Square and they are looking for YOUR participation.
