The #1DBigAnnouncement hashtag has provided us with a glimpse into the souls of some of One Direction's biggest fans. And as we have learned, it can be a scary, scary place.

Have you ever wondered what it would actually be like to be in One Direction? Sure there are untold riches; you get free travel across the globe where you'd be put up in the world's fanciest hotels, not to mention having the sheer buzz of performing on stage in front of adoring fans almost every night of the week virtually on tap. But with such a massive level of fame comes a few drawbacks, many of which could be seen this afternoon if you glanced at the #1DBigAnnouncement hashtag which was trending worldwide on Twitter this afternoon.

The big reveal came at 4pm our time in which the 1D lads announced a series of shows in Europe and the United States for next year after their upcoming record 'Four' comes out. Seems pretty straightforward, no?

Well not when some of One Direction's more, ahem, extreme fans have access to social media. Below are a few examples of the reaction One Direction's big announcement.

Warning: There are hormones aplenty on display.

Thankfully Austria has a date on the tour so this case of self-immolation has been averted

However some fans appeared a little bit jaded for these types of announcements

Some of the more upset Directioners were flexing their dramatic muscles

"LIAM PROMISED HE'D COME!!"

Actually, Liam seems to have been scapegoated for this by a lot of fans...

"Stressing..."

"Come to Azerbaijan, it's shit here!"

"But moooo-oooom...!"
