Those of you with sharp memories might recall that Lily Allen announced an "indefinite hiatus" from the music business back in 2009 and it's beginning to look like she might have been best served staying in retirement after admitting that her comeback album 'Sheezus' has flattered to deceive both critically and commercially.
'Sheezus' initially entered the album charts in the top spot back in April but the word of mouth wasn't particularly kind and her most recent single 'URL Badman' charted at a disastrous #93 in the UK last week.
Speaking to The Mirror, Allen said: "Maybe the songs aren't good enough? I put my trust in other people, which I don't usually do. I usually go with my own gut feeling but maybe I wasn't feeling as confident as I have in the past because of all these hormones."
"I just know I can't wait to get back into the studio", Allen continued.
'Sheezus' was the recipient of a one star review on this website, where we wrote: "A noble gesture too muddled in delivery, you sense that Allen is trying to make grand statements throughout but amid all the pop culture references, she doesn't do a good enough job of disguising the fact that she's really got nothing of note to say."
