Not content with being an astronaut, endearing himself to millions around the world with his incredible photos from space, becoming a bit of an honorary Irishman (for tweeting as Gaeilge) and publishing a book about his experiences, Chris Hadfield is adding yet another string to his bow by releasing an album.

Hadfield previously made headlines when he performed David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' from space during his stint on the ISS in 2013. The video (below) has been viewed over 25 million times on YouTube.

Well, it seems that he put his five months in zero-gravity to good use by writing a whole album's worth of songs, which will be released on Warner Canada this autumn.

He made the announcement on Twitter yesterday, adding that his fellow Canucks Ron Sexsmith, Buck 65, Matthew Good and the bands Barenaked Ladies and Billy Talent ha been enlisted to help out, among others.

We bet it'll be… harumph… out of this world! Sorry.
