SUMMER MUSIC FESIVALS

Now that the Leaving Cert has started, we're pretty much guaranteed a week or two of good weather so it's good to know that some of Ireland's most interesting festivals will be opening their doors this June. Forbidden Fruit began the month in style, with a host of amazing performances from the likes of Chic, Le Galaxie, Primal Scream and Kasabian and on the way we have the boutique delights of Body & Soul in Co. Westmeath, Sea Sessions up north in Donegal, the Helium micro-festival in Longford, to name but a few.

It was looking up in the air for a while, but Electric Picnic will return this year for its tenth anniversary ensuring that this is one picnic that you can expect some birthday cake at. Not only that, Oxegen will also reclaim its position among Ireland's festival elite when it makes its return to Punchestown after taking some well deserved time off last year. The newcomer to the festival calendar this year is Longitude, which will take over Dublin's Marlay Park for three nights in July (and boasts a whopper of a line-up too). As well as the big boys, there's a music festival this summer to cater for just about every musical taste and budget.

We'll be spreading our net across the country to bring you just about every bit of news, every line-up announcement, all the hottest snaps, ticket information, interviews and just about everything else you can imagine from all the top festivals in Ireland this summer right here, so leave it to us to make sure you don't miss a beat!

Not to bother you too much but this year we've joined forces with thinkcontraception.ie to help promote the message of safer sex at festivals across Ireland, something we think is very important. Sharing a tent with a brand new friend might seem like the best idea you've ever had in a field in Laois at four in the morning - just as long as you're aware of the risks!
