What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". These Web feed formats are used to publish frequently updated content like news. Thanks to RSS you can automatically keep up with your favorite websites. In a way they work like a subscription - instead of visiting Entertainment.ie to check for new content, RSS will deliver the content you want directly to you.

How do I get started?

To get RSS feeds you have several options:

  • Either use a modern browser like Firefox or Internet Explorer 7 which automatically detects RSS feeds for you and allows you to bookmark them by clicking on the orange RSS feed icon that appears in the browsers address bar.
  • Or you can install a "newsreader" software on your computer which will check for updates to your RSS feeds and download them for you.
  • A third option is to simply use a website as a reader, e.g. Feedster or Google Reader.
