We were given a voucher for the Pig's ear and didn't know a thing about the place until we went. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised. The food is 'Irish' but of very high standard. My association with 'Irish' is some rip off joint in Temple Bar that serves slop to tourists. This Irish food was excellent. Some of the dishes were traditional but there was a twist. Both myself and my wife were enthusing about the place to our friends afterwards. A few days later i met some Korean tourists on the street and they asked for directions and then asked about restaurants and particularly 'Irish' food. I told them about the Pigs ear and i hope they went as it will change people's minds about traditional Irish food. They asked me what was traditional Irish food and it took me a while to figure it out. Bacon, cabbage and spuds came to mind, but then, i said that it was locally sourced, good quality and well cooked food and that's the Pigs Ear. Oh and it has lovely views of Trinity college too!
