Recently brought my girlfriend out to l'Gueuleton for a meal neither of us having eaten here before. Within minutes we could see that we had made a great choice, from the intimate surroundings, the friendly service and above all, the quality food. Will definitely be going back!

I really enjoyed this restaurant, had a fabulous lunch with duck and a glass of red wine that was great value. It really reminds me of some of the bistros in paris! I will have to go back again sometime for dinner.

Personally I think this restaurant is over-rated... The food is lovely but just not all that special... It is also quite pricey for what you are getting.

My visit was much anticipated as I'd heard so much about it. It was very nice and enjoyed my toulouse sausages a lot. Not quite as special and memorable an experience as I had hoped though. Don't think it is quite the place it was when it opened anymore.

Very noisy! Or maybe I'm just getting old. Either way, I'm not sure why they feel the need to turn up the music so loud. It actually ruined my enjoyment of the meal, which was tasty enough.

While neither a member of the Glitterati nor an Elite (did you take that description from their own website - very 'celtic tiger' hubris language), I was one of those who queued from about 5.15pm onwards many an evening to grab a table at what was once the hotest restaurant in town. However, after about 8-10 visits in the last three years, my most recent trip about six months ago will be my last. Unfortunately - and it really saddens me to say this - L'Gueuleton has regressed. Gone are the patient, well trained staff, the attention to detail, the suspense as you await your food. Some of the staples are still OK, like French Onion Soup ( I recall a really good Rabbit and White Bean soup on the menu in the 'early days'), but for me the restaurant was all about the Rib Eye with Bearnaise or Cafe de Paris. However, on my second last trip there, the Rib Eye has all the flavour and colour of an American Cow fed on grain and starved of sunlight - while Americans may think that is nice, a rare steak should have a deep red hue at its centre and a flavour which makes you hold the meat in your mouth just that little bit longer, not a tasteless, pale pink (and it was served rare!) effort. On my last trip, the quality of the meat improved but alas the attention to detail was absent. My Fiancee and I sat at one of those tables across from the kitchen pass on the way to smoking area. When I got my steak it had been clearly left under the grill a bit too long. The sauce was actually burnt. I managed to scrape it off the steak, but amazingly neither the waitress nor the (head) chef thought there was anything wrong with this, and he within ear shot of me. L'Gueuleton - two stars for innovation and effort in its formative days - Nuls Point now.
