The Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair, Ireland’s premier International Three Day Event will take place over the June Bank Holiday weekend (May 31st – June 3rd, 2012) and promises to be a fun-filled weekend for the entire family to enjoy. Located just a stone’s throw from Dublin, in Ratoath, Co. Meath, Tatts 2012 will combine world class eventing (the ultimate test in horsemanship) with the bustle of a country fair. With over 50 shopping stands including brands like Dubarry and Magee Clothing, locally produced food, picnic areas and old fashioned carnival stands, the entire family will get to see world class Eventing and some of the world’s most fearsome Olympian’s up close and personal, while enjoying all the fun of the fair!
The Tattersalls International Horse Trials is not all about horses. The country fair will provide a real treat for food lovers. Taking centre stage in the Moscow Flyer Pavilion, the onsite restaurant and bar overlooking the main arena, will be renowned chef, Neil Shirt, who will be serving up culinary delights over the course of 3 days. Neil is a new addition to Tatts 2012 and with restaurants like Harrods, Chapter One and Luttrellstown Castle on his CV visitors can expect to be served up some truly remarkable dishes. Good Food Ireland will also be on hand to tempt palates with the likes of delicious Jane Russell sausages and Peter Ward’s Country Choice range of products. The event will also host a country market which will showcase a number of local artisan producers.
To be closer to the action, why not pick a picnic spot close to the water jump where you’ll get to witness the spectacular jumps first hand. Open up the boot, pop a cork and enjoy the thrills and hopefully not too many spills of the most popular fence on the cross country course.
Tatts 2012 prides itself on being one of Ireland’s friendliest family events, with a dedicated area to both feed and change younger children and a kids menu that will satisfy even the pickiest eaters, Mum and Dad can concentrate on having a great day out and not worry about facilities. With a dedicated Kids Zone including a number of FREE activities Tatts 2012 will be the perfect place to bring the entire family. Don’t worry about keeping your rugrats entertained, with carnival stalls, bucking broncos, a beautiful falconry display, archery, bouncy castles, face painting, pony rides, Vintage Displays from Moynalty Steam Threshing and a novelty dog show there will be plenty to keep you and them occupied. Don’t forget the hound parade – taking place on Sunday afternoon, the local hunts will parade in the main arena, the children will love the opportunity to meet and walk amongst the hounds and see this age old tradition first hand. Kids under 12 go free for the entire event.
Tickets range from €5 for one day adult admission to €50 for a picnic pass (includes entry for 2 adults and 2 children)
