XX Man Releases Solo Single
29 September 2010The XX's Jamie Smith is set to release a solo single next month. The song, entitled 'Far Nearer' premiered on UK alternative station XFM's new show 'X-Posure' last night, which saw the trio co-host the programme alongside regular host John Kennedy.
Smith, who is the man behind all the XX's beats and electronics, said he has not yet decided whether the song will be released under his own name, Jamie XX or another pseudonym. Speaking in advance of the premiere, Smith revealed, "It's a tune I made on one of our short breaks from touring and I was eager to make some new music. I got a steel pan and made this track and it is coming out on Numbers Records in about a month or so."
The XX recently picked up the prestigious Mercury Music Prize for their debut album 'XX'.
