With the dust barely settling from last weekend's Forbidden Fruit, Royal Hospital Kilmainham is set to host more gigs that should define the sights and sounds of summer 2014.

One of Dublin's most remarkable outdoor venues, the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham have been host to Leonard Cohen's first series of comeback gigs in Ireland, reverberated the sound of a recently- reformed Blur's setlist full of 90's anthems and witnessed a stage invasion courtesy of Iggy & The Stooges. This year features a line up of gigs that should be every bit as spectacular.

Fix up, look sharp: The Modfather is back in town. Paul Weller will no doubt be celebratory mood having just released More Modern Classics, the second volume of his greatest hits, which takes in the last 15 years of his studio output, 2008's adventurous 22 Dreams and 2010's critically acclaimed Wake Up the Nation. Support act Tom Odell will also be in fine form, hot on the heels of his 2014 Ivor Novello award for Songwriter of the Year.

Always a joy to see outdoors when the sun is splitting the stones, Elbow will no doubt draw largely from a back catalogue of songs that work as beautifully in an outdoor setting as indoor when they play on 25th June. Don't take our word for it: watch their 2011 appearance on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage, which is might just be one of the finest and most accomplished performances in the festival’s history. Corkman Mick Flannery supports the lads from Manchester, his recently released album By The Rule being his best yet.

Making his first trip back since his 2012 gig on Halloween night at Dublin's O2, Jack White is that rarest of things: an unpredictable performer who is consistently great. Undoubtedly the best and most exciting musical find of the 2000's, White's development from a minimalist blues rocker in a duo to solo artist, producer, record label head, record store owner and Ambassador for all things vinyl has been nothing short of impressive. Released today, new album Lazaretto is a belter and will no doubt sound great live when the Nashville based Detroit songwriter tears it up on the 26th of June with support from sometime Dead Weather bandmate Alison Mosshart, who returns to her day job with The Kills.

Not content with selling out their show at Live at the Marquee Cork, The Coronas will be playing to home supporters on the 27th of June with support from The Riptide Movement. Sore throats the following morning from seemingly endless singalongs can now safely be predicted.

Closing the week of gigs at Royal Hospital Kilmainham are Biffy Clyro, a band with a fanbase so loyal and devoted that they are less fans and more 'followers'. The Kilmarnock trio are still on tour in support of Opposites, their critically acclaimed 2013 album that found the Scots lads breaking new ground. A solid, reliable live band, their closing gig on the 28th of June will see the week finish with bang.
