Settle down, ladies.

Following Lady Gaga's bizarre effort which we posted this morning, One Direction's Mullingar representative Niall Horan has accepted a challenge from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder to be the latest celebrity to douse themselves in freezing water in the name of charity.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has become an internet phenomenon in the last couple of weeks and has raised millions for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) research, sort of like those incessant Harlem Shake videos but, y'know, worthwhile.

Celebrities like Chris Pratt, Justin Timberlake, Dana White and Mark Zuckerberg (and literally hundreds more) have all done the deed so far in the name of charity but Niall's is sure to set a few teenage pulses racing. Check it out above.

Say what you will about Internet fundraising like this but, as of Sunday, the ALS Association has raised more than $13.3 million in donations since the end of July - a massive increase on the $1.7 million raised during the same period last year.

If you're interested in getting involved, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is inviting everyone to undertake the Ice Bucket Challenge to support their work in providing support to people here with MND. If you prefer to donate, text MND to donate €2 to 50300 (100% of the text goes to IMNDA, some providers may apply VAT)
