Watch Mos Def Perform With The Roots & Dirty Projectors
26 November 2009Mos Def appeared on last night's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon alongside fellow New York rapper Talib Kweli to perform the song 'History', taken from his latest album 'The Ecstatic'.
The album version of the song samples Mary Wells' 'Two Lovers History', the vocal part of which is sung here by Amber Coffman and Haley Dekle of Brooklyn experimental outfit Dirty Projectors. The rest of the backing is provided by Grammy Award winning hip hop group The Roots, who have been playing as Fallon's house band since March.
The Roots' Questlove, Kirk Douglas and Owen Biddle recently made a surprise appearance at a Dirty Projectors show in New York, after they hit it off with Dirty Projectors when they performed on a previous instalment of the late night talk show. The two groups are considering collaborating in the near future.

In other Jimmy Fallon based hilarity, viewers recently discovered that Fallon does a freakishly convincing Neil Young impression, when he donned the full costume and performed a cover of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme tune. Check it out below. Classic.
