Sting was the first artist to play the newly-re-opened Bataclan venue in Paris on Friday, almost exactly a year to the day since the horrific terrorist attacks which saw 89 people shot dead in the venue last November 13th.

The English musician opened his set with 'Fragile' and asked the crowd for a minute's silence, before playing Police songs including 'Message in a Bottle', 'Driven to Tears', 'Every Breath You Take', 'Walking on the Moon', 'Roxanne' and plenty drawn from his own back catalogue. He finished his set with 'The Empty Chair', the song written for a new documentary about American journalist James Foley, who was abducted and killed by ISIS in 2012.

Reports that Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes was thrown out of the venue by management for his comments regarding security were later refuted by the band's own manager.
