Madonna's speech at the Women's March in Washington DC last Saturday certainly generated a lot of headlines, but not all of them were positive.

The pop star's fiery rant against the establishment and Donald Trump led her to say: "I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House" but also encouraged people not to despair.

However, now Trump advisor and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has called for her to be arrested for her comments.

He told Fox & Friends: "She is parallel to the young fascists who ran around town breaking windows, all of whom should be given the maximum sentence. What you have is an emerging left-wing fascism. She's part of it, and I think we have to be prepared to protect ourselves."

Although Madonna clarified her comments in an Instagram post on Sunday that said "I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it's important people hear and understand my speech in its entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context", Gingrich was not to be swayed.

He sarcastically said: "I love the left. "When they say, 'I dreamed about blowing up the White House,' they didn't mean, 'I dreamed about blowing up the White House'. They actually meant, 'the yellow purple banana,' but they didn't want to say, 'the yellow purple banana' 'cause it was too shocking. Give me a break."

Dunno about you, but we're lost.
