Chris Martin has form when it comes to turning up at venues for spontaneous gigs and singalongs, but his latest guerilla gig might be his most impressive one yet.

That's largely down to the setlist: when Martin arrived at the Mercury Lounge in New York on Wednesday night to play a charity gig, he covered Prince ('Purple Rain'), David Bowie ('Life on Mars'), Leonard Cohen ('Hallelujah'), The Beatles ('Yesterday'), Bing Crosby ('White Christmas') and even Drake's 'Hotline Bling'.

The Coldplay frontman took part in the gig to raise money for the city's Bowery Mission Homeless Shelter, so that's his good deed done for the festive season.
