Tony Martin Dies Aged 98
American singer and actor Tony Martin has died at the age of 98. The legendary crooner passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Friday 27th July of natural causes.
The singer, who is a peer to Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra had most of his success in the 1930’s and 1950’s. He is best known for his hit singles 'There’s No Tomorrow' and 'To Each Their Own'.Over his career he starred in 25 musical films Kentucky Moonshine, Two Tickets To Broadway, Here Come The Girls and Meet Me In Las Vegas and was often cast as the romantic lead due to his good looks.
Paying tribute to him his long time friend and musician Gabriel Guerrero said he was 'the ultimate crooner who outlasted all his contemporaries' and 'truly remained the butterscotch baritone until he was 98'.
Martin was married to two high profile stars in his lifetime firstly to musical star Alice Faye which only lasted 2 years before he married actress Cyd Charisee who he remained with until she died in 2008.
