The richest hip-hop artists of 2017 have been revealed, although you may be surprised about who's at number one considering he hasn't released a studio album proper since 2010.

Although Sean 'Diddy' Combs released a mixtape in 2015, he's boosted his fortune in more recent times via other non-musical investments - including one in Ciroc vodka and another in TV network Revolt. He's worth approximately $820 million (€753 million) and tops the rich list, compiled by Forbes, for 2017.

Not far behind him is Jay Z at $810 million, while Dr. Dre comes in in third place at $740 million.

The top three artists are unquestionably dominating the game, as the fourth and fifth placed names - Birdman, who owns the Cash Money record label and Drake - are at $110 million and $90 million, respectively.
