Arguably one of the most recognisable guitars in modern history, Kurt Cobain's battered Martin D-18E is now at the centre of a bitterly disputed legal battle between Courtney Love, her daughter Frances Bean Cobain and Frances' ex-husband, Isaiah Silva.

As we reported a few months ago, Frances Bean Cobain filed for divorce from Isaiah Silva, who is also the lead singer with the Eeries. As with most celebrity divorces, it's turning acrimonious right quick and one major item that's up for grabs is Cobain's acoustic guitar that was used for the filming of MTV Unplugged.

Silva claims that the guitar was given to him by his former wife as a wedding present, however both Frances Bean Cobain and Courtney Love deny this. The guitar became Courtney's upon the death of Kurt Cobain and she, in turn, passed it on to Frances Bean - her only daughter with Kurt Cobain.

Now, in order to make sure that they get the guitar back, Courtney Love has hired celebrity "problem-solver" Sam Lufti, who famously managed Britney Spears around the time of her very public breakdown, is allegedly making threatening calls to Silva's first wife and has been tormenting her with phonecalls through the night.

Lufti is currently suing Britney Spears for back pay as her manager, whilst Spears' legal team claims that Lufti fuelled Spears with drugs and tried to get her off psychiatric medication. Lufti openly admitted to calling Isaiah Silva's first wife and threatening her repeatedly, saying that it was provoked by her as she allegedly provoked Frances Bean Cobain by taunting her about her father's suicide.

Lufti is apparently trying to get Silva's first wife to side with Love and Cobain, but whether that happens is yet to be determined. No specific date has been set for the divorce trial, however Kurt Cobain's guitar will form the centrepiece of it - as it's worth millions.

In other words, it's all a mess and everything's terrible, everywhere. Let's just watch Where Did You Sleep Last Night? and try to forget all this awfulness.
