In the past, he has used his music videos to make a statement - most notably on 'Take Me to Church', which went viral when it was released back in 2013.

Now, Hozier's latest single 'Nina Cried Power' - the title track of his new EP - takes a similar stance by including a number of Irish social and political activists.

The video was co-directed by the singer's filmmaker brother Jon and features the likes of Colm O'Gorman, Grace Dyas, Christina Noble, Bernadette McAliskey and more, capturing their reactions as they listen to the song on headphones for the first time.

It's a particularly apt message, given that singer and civil rights activist Mavis Staples - who was recently joined by Hozier during her Electric Picnic set - features on the song, too.
