If you're a runner and a music fan, the ideal event for you that combines both passions is on the near horizon.

Anyone who has done a race in the Affidea Rock 'n' Roll series - which runs in numerous locations around the world - will be aware of the set-up; bands and musicians are installed at various intervals around the course to distract you from the hard slog of running a half-marathon (13.1 miles).

This year, the Dublin event will also incorporate a 5k and 10k race as well as the half-marathon, and the acts that will keep runners and spectators alike entertained have been revealed.

Headlining the finish line area at the Phoenix Park will be Cavan rock 'n' rollers The Strypes, who will play a free gig from 11am - 11.45am that is open to everyone to attend. They'll be joined at the finish line by Donna Dunne (10.15am  - 10.45am) and DJ Hazel (12pm - 12.45pm).
