The Stunning have been announced as the first act for Galway's Sugar Beat festival.

The brothers Wall, famous for songs like 'Brewing Up a Storm' and their 1990 debut album 'Paradise in the Picturehouse', are apparently recording new material this year. They spent much of their original lifespan (1987 - 1994) in Galway, so their date at the festival will be a sort of homecoming for the reformed rockers.

They will headline the one-day festival when it returns for its second year at Tuam Stadium.

They'll be joined by 6-8 additional acts, to be announced in the coming weeks and months, on August 22nd. Last year's bill included the likes of Damien Dempsey and Mundy, giving you some idea of the homegrown talent on offer.

Tickets are €35 and on sale from Entertainment.ie/tickets now.

The festival launch, meanwhile, takes place on March 7th in the Corralea Court Hotel in Tuam. There'll be a free gig by the Amazing Apples from 9pm; admission is free, but capacity is limited.
