The Joyful Slog of independent music

The Joyful Slog, a documentary shining light at the a certain corner of the independent music scene in Ireland over the course of the past twenty years, is set for a May 6th launch in The Button Factory at 5.30pm and will feature live performances from The Jimmy Cake, No Spill Blood, September Girls, Crayonsmith, Costello with GI and William Lee and Nibiru.

The documentary features interviews with the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar, Adebisi Shank, Jape, The Jimmy Cake, as well as labels, journalists and other people who nurtured the scene. The doc was compiled by Barry Lennon (The Richter Collective and Hands Up Who Wants To Die), partnered with First Music Contact and Dublin Community Television, with funding from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

Doors to the launch open at 5.30pm and admission is free.
