The Decemberists Turn Album Into Cartoon

The Decemberists Turn Album Into Cartoon

20 November 2009

Portland alt-rockers The Decemberists have put together an animated film to accompany last year's album 'The Hazards of Love'.

Anyone familiar with the album will know it's a rock opera of sorts, and already comes complete with plot, characters, a love story and shape shifting forest creatures.

Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized compiles a number of different animations created by filmmakers Guilherme Marcondes, Julia Pott, Peter Sluszka and Santa to accompany individual sections of music from the album.

The film premiered at Los Angeles last month, and will be available exclusively from iTunes (boo!) from December 1st. Check out the trailer below:

The Hazards of Love is amazing. For anyone who wants to hear something original, challenging and ultimately very satisfying, take an hour and a bit and listen to this from start to finish.
