Rumours have been swirling for months about the future of The 1975 - are they breaking up? Have they already broken up? Are they doing another album?

Now, the English indie-rockers have put paid to the rumours of their demise by announcing both a new album and an arena date in Ireland for next March.

"This is the beginning of a new chapter for The 1975," they wrote in an open letter to fans. "Our new record signifies the start of a new world for us, a more colourful world a less colourful world. We want to play sets that people talk about for ages cos it was fun and it was music and we want to be honest otherwise what’s the fucking point? So the best way to start is the way we did before with people who really want to be there."

They'll play the 3Arena on March 24th, 2016.

Tickets are €35 including booking fee and on sale this Thursday, October 8th from usual outlets at 9am.
