As one might expect, there are a lot of fun n' activities scheduled for this weekend in our nation's capital, ranging from high profile gigs to lesser-known, more word-of-mouth affairs. We've trawled through the listings to highlight a couple of shows which we think might be worth of your attention.

Girls Aloud - The O2 - 16th March
The reunited girl group have some catching up to do, it seems. Having reunited last year after three years of inactivity, during which time Cheryl worked on her TV career and the other girls, em, waited for her to be available again. The O2 is the largest indoor venue on our island so if they fill that vast room it'll be a good signal of whether or not fans still think they're relevant or if they've been replaced by bands ten years their junior.

Eels - Olympia Theatre - 16th March
Eels have long been considered one of the top indie-rock acts to emerge from the burgeoning Californian music scene over the past couple of decades. Armed with an array of hits longer than your or my arm, the band can swing from low-key indie charms to full on punk-rock behemoths at a moment's notice. This, the second of their two-night stint in the Olympia, should be a stormer of a show.

Le Galaxie - The Button Factory - 17th March
Now we're talking! One of our favourite bands Le Galaxie will well and truly tear the roof off The Button Factory on St Patrick's night for what could well go down as one of the absolute best gigs of the year so far. Having seen these guys on numerous occasions now, we can only testify and spread the word of their might. Show up on the night and see for yourself.
