Speculation is mounting on social media that Foo Fighters may be about to announce a split or a hiatus later today.
The band tweeted in the early hours of this morning (GMT), saying that an 'official band announcement' would be made tomorrow evening (this evening, GMT).
Official band announcement tomorrow night. Stay tuned.

With Dave Grohl's solo stint at the Oscars the other night and the fact that they have just come off tour in recent months, many people reckon that the announcement may be related to a hiatus or possibly a solo/side project of some sort.
The band started out as a solo project for Grohl in 1994, after Kurt Cobain's death.
@foofighters The straight forwardness of this tweet has me worried.

@foofighters this feels like when your other half says "we need to talk" and you don't know if it's good or bad!

@foofighters don't you dare to split guys, DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE

A spokesman for the band claimed that rumours of a split are 'utterly ridiculous', according to Entertainment Weekly, who cited the New York Post's story about 'tension' between drummer Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl the other day.
Others reckon that it might be related to filling the Saturday night headline slot at Glastonbury, which they were forced to pull out of last year after Dave Grohl broke his leg:
@foofighters Glastonbury.
