Boooooo hisssssss boooo, etc. We've been had - Lady Gaga is a fraud. A fraud, we say!

Well, kinda. It turns out that the pop star's spectacular death-defying(ish) leap from the roof of the NRG Stadium in Texas on Sunday was not staged live, and was in fact pre-recorded.

Although Gaga was lowered from wires onto the stage, the opening part of her Super Bowl halftime show - featuring her singing against a backdrop of coloured drones - had been filmed beforehand because of concerns about the weather and 'environmental reasons', according to a spokesperson from Intel, who helped stage the event.

There's a lot of weather and environment (issues)," they said. "In February, you don't know what it will be like during Super Bowl day. We'd hate to plan all this and, if the wind speeds are too high or if it's raining and the roof is closed, no one can see this spectacular show. So our creative team as well as the Super Bowl creative team felt this would be best to be filmed."

They added: "Lady Gaga also was on the roof when this was filmed, and from a logistics and creative perspective, it's a bit hard for her to go from the roof all the way down to the floor of the stadium."
