Shania Twain caused quite a stir yesterday when comments that she made in an interview with The Guardian came to light.
The Canadian country-pop superstar said that she 'would have voted for Donald Trump' if she could have, dismaying many of her fans who basically assumed that she was one of the sound ones.
"I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest," she said. "Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn't be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don't want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?"
Now, after the furore it caused on social media, she has backtracked on the comments, apologising to 'anyone she has offended' and explaining that she was 'caught off guard' and does not endorse Trump (who is no doubt kicking himself for not asking her to perform at his inauguration.)

I was trying to explain, in response to a question about the election, that my limited understanding was that the President talked to a portion of America like an accessible person they could relate to, as he was NOT a politician (3/4)
