If there's one word that you could use to sum up Ryan Adams's career to date, it's 'unpredictable'.

The former alt-country-star-turned-rock-n-roller has just announced his latest project: a cover of Taylor Swift's most recent album, '1989', in full.

Adams, of course, is no stranger to turning well-known songs on their heads - his version of Oasis's 'Wonderwall' went down a treat over a decade ago, after all.

The news of the album - which Adams said was Taylor Swift "as played by The Smiths" was revealed on Twitter late last night, and even T-Swift herself seemed suitably gobsmacked/excited by it, as you'll see from her tweets from earlier today (below).

We have to admit that we're more than a little curious about what his take on 'Shake It Off' will sound like.

Adams then tweeted some footage of the songs being played over a speaker in the studio, including 'Welcome to New York':
