Some fifty years after their first gig, the Rolling Stones have again been nominated for Best Live Band, this time at the NME awards. The Stones are also up for three other gongs at the awards ceremony, which will take place in London on February 27th.

Speaking of the glut of nominations, Mick Jagger was quoted by Sky as saying: "it's very nice to be nominated. When first heard it was four things, I thought 'Oh blimey! That's very nice! And it's not a journalists-only thing; it's not a coterie of closely-knit people choosing."

Elsewhere, M.I.A., Haim and Tame Impala are also up for four awards each and David Bowie, who recently announced his return to music, is already up for three awards in the aftermath of his comeback single 'Where Are We Now?'

The undesirable villain of the year award puts unlikely foes David Cameron and One Direction's Harry Styles in direct competition, with Azealia Banks also a strong contender.
